The car park was full on Friday after school and cars lined the street. Word had spread… Upper Plenty Primary School was holding a family fun night. There was something for everyone, including:

* A market

* An art show

* A book launch

* The opening of our new outdoor classroom

* A jumping castle

* A ‘Happy Birthday’ sing-a-long for Ezmond, our school dragon who turned one

The market had a variety of stalls and activities. There were stalls run by professional market people and each class had a stall too.

We would like to thank everyone who made cakes and slices for us. We received many compliments about your cooking and sold out!

The central learning space was transformed into an art exhibition.

The night also celebrated Ezmond’s first birthday. The whole school sang Ezmond ‘Happy Birthday’ before ‘The Adventures of Ezmond’ was officially launched. The Adventures of Ezmond is a picture storybook. Each student in the school wrote a narrative about Ezmond during our narrative writing focus and created an illustration in art to go with the text. We now have a picture storybook with over 170 stories and everyone is a published author!

Many people were able to visit our newly finished outdoor classroom and garden.

Just when we thought the night couldn’t get any better, there was even a jumping castle!

We would like to thank Mrs Lewis and her team of helpers who spent many months and hundreds of hours working on the outdoor garden, The Adventures of Ezmond and setting up the art exhibition. We would also like to thank Upper Plenty’s Family and Friends group who organised the market and invited each class to have a stall.

What did you enjoy most about the family fete and market night?

How should Ezmond celebrate his next birthday?

Hello everyone,

The family fun night was really fun and definitely a night to remember! My aunty had a stall at the market near the 5/6 cake stall.

My favourite thing about the family fun night was everything and getting to see everyone having a good time.

I think that it was a good idea to do Ezmond’s birthday at the family fun night. So I think that next year should be the same as this year.

Got to go,
Olivia

Hi Olivia,
The family fun night was really really fun. I thought that she was your aunty because you said to me that your aunty made hair clips and all other things.

My favourite thing about the family fun night was running the cake stall and getting to see all of the other class stalls.

I think that we should do that again for Ezmond’s birthday.

See you later,
Emma

Hi Emma,

Thanks for replying to me.

I think that it was really, really fun as well. Yes, I did say that my aunty makes hair clips and lots of other things. All of my hair accessories are from my aunty. I think that her hair clips are really colourful and really creative.

See you later,
Olivia

What a fabulous night we had. You should all be proud of Friday nights celebrations.

Hello everybody,
I think that the family fun night was great.

The best part about the family fun night was that the whole school celebrated Ezmond’s birthday. I also think that we should celebrate Ezmond’s birthday the same as we did this year.

Have to go,
Emma
